“We’ve been using A+ this year in our interventions in our mornings and after-school. It’s been very effective because we’ve been able to assign students different assessments on their reading level. For example, we have a 6th grader but they’re reading on a 3rd grade reading level. We’re able to assign them an adaptive assessment to test where they are and the skills will go up and down depending on how they answer the questions and then it will prescribe exercises for the kids to use. So that’s been very effective with the kids.
The studies; we found that the kids enjoy the studies because they’re more in-depth than other programs. We also found that if we sit down and work with the kids some when they’re not understanding, we’re able to take them through the study and help them with practice tests and then they are able to do the mastery test.
So how A+ works: The kids have a “study”, then they take a “practice test”, and then they have a “mastery test”.
And with A+, we’re able to go in, and since it’s based on the State Core Curriculum, it’s updated with the Language Arts and Math, we can take core objectives that the students are working on by grade level and then assign mastery tests from those.
I’m working with Dan Reid from A+ (Backbone Communications) and he’s developing benchmark assessments the kids will be taking from the different grade levels in the fall and spring or the fall, winter and spring.

In this video, you will see Principal Joe Brasfield tell his story of arriving three years ago at Ware County High School facing a declining graduation rate. He needed a new solution that would help his at-risk students begin moving in the right direction towards graduation. To curb dropout rates, the school implemented A+ in several new alternative programs (credit recovery, credit repair, course recovery, and graduation test preparation) as a means to offer at-risk students more customized remediation options based on student needs.
Watch the principals and counselors tell their stories of how A+ helped the majority of their at-risk students successfully recover credits and how A+ has helped Ware County High School improve their graduation rate.

See Dr. Lura Davidson, a former K–12 superintendent and current Adjunct Instructor for Higher Education at Concordia University in Austin, speak about effective implementations of the A+nyWhere Learning System (A+LS) courseware for at-risk students.

In this 30 minute video, three teachers and the principal,
from Lumberton
High School describe how the A+nyWhere Learning Systemincreased
their students’ testing performances by 34% in one year. The first year
they implemented the A+LS program, the students’ test scores
went from 3.7 in 10 students to 7.1 in 10 at grade level.
They also describe — in
depth — the ease of use, practice, testing, reporting and overall flexibility
of the A+LS software. “We can reach ALL the learners with A+™,”
claims principal Greg Killingsworth. "But, don’t

We have had very positive results in our first year of implementation of the software.
We had 100 students in summer school catching up on classes they had failed. We normally have only 15 to 20 willing to sit in class
for the six weeks it takes to get the credit they need towards graduation. The software allowed students to work at their own pace
and we had students willing to come in at 7:00 A.M. and work until 1:00P.M. One student finished his course work in three days and
was done. In a regular class they would have had to sit there for another five weeks.

My school uses the A+LS computer software as its primary mode of instruction. We selected the
A+LS software because of its extensive curricula areas, grade level availability, comprehensive content and an easy to
use, secure management system. Students are able to work independently on their individualized curriculum at their own pace. The
lessons are challenging, but not too difficult for the student to master. The instructor can choose from a wide variety of reports
from the management system to keep abreast of the student’s progress at any given time. We’ve not been disappointed
with our decision to purchase the A+nyWhere Learning System.
