This course reviews the ethical and moral obligations of scientists regarding scientific research. Students identify the five oceans and study the composition of ocean water, the various depths and the living organisms present, and the ocean food chain. A discussion is presented of natural selection, Darwin's theory of evolution, adaptations, and mutations. Students investigate how plants use the sun's energy during the process of photosynthesis. A study of the constellations and how they were named is presented. The development and use of technology including robots, artificial skin, and genetic engineering is discussed.

The Sciences VII course includes other topics such as:

  • Examining the process of mitosis
  • Understanding binomial nomenclature
  • Reviewing human body systems
  • Studying the earth's rotation and revolution

• Forty-seven lesson elementary level science course

• Aligned to the National Science Education Standards (NSES) with lessons covering Science Inquiry, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Life Science, Science and Technology, Science in Personal and Social Perspectives, and the History and Nature of Science.

• The Sciences VII focuses on science facts, concepts, principles, and theories that are important for all students to know, understand, and use.

• The content in these courses is designed to meet and exceed the requirements of the National Science Education Standards (NSES). These requirements are identified in the following standards: Science Inquiry, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Life Science, Science and Technology, Science in Personal and Social Perspectives, and the History and Nature of Science.

• Numerous lessons are associated with the process of design and primary understanding regarding science and its various links with technology.

• Lessons examine personal and social perspectives of science and allow students to learn about the history and nature of science, as well as to learn about science itself.
